Textbook Evaluation

Context
This is a textbook evaluation that I did for a Social Studies Methods class during Block.  I worked with a partner and we compared and contrasted various aspects of two Sixth Grade Social Studies textbooks copyrighted in 1997.  We evaluated the teacher's editions of each text in order to better analyze the information provided.

Impact
As a teacher, I may be asked to be part of a textbook committee in order to choose the best texts for our grade level.  I now know the criteria to look for and how to effectively evaluate and analyze a textbook.  This artifact helped me better prepare myself for this aspect of my job description.

Alignment
This artifact aligns with INTASC Principle 7 because it demonstrates my knowledge of a subject, curriculum goals, students, and community based on my thorough evaluation of a textbook.
