A. Artifact 6
Language Arts Video Project

B. Context
I and my classmates created this Video Project during the Spring of 2001 in the Media and Technology class in conjunction with the Language Arts class.  It was creative imitation applied to the story of "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone" which was read during this semester.

C. Impact
This video project is a great way to explore knowledge of taping procedures and making a movie based on the premise of a book that was read in class.  This artifact is a great way to assess learning in a creative way and to make learning fun for the students.  Not only does this project allow for video recording and editing, but it also allows for use of several different kinds of software packages such as Microsoft Word for composing the screen play and iMovie for editing the actual product.

D. Alignment
This Video Project provides myself with a great tool to allow the students to creatively explore the many facets of different books that they may read and come up with different ideas for expressing knowledge of the content area.  It will encompass these Competencies:

E. Technology
· 10.2 - This artifact shows that I can use television or video to support a specific part of the curriculum by allowing for the video taping and producing of a project for a book.
· 12.5 - This artifact shows your attention to the organizational and management issues in the classroom that help facilitate active, collaborative work by allowing for students to come up with a creative script, assign roles, shoot the picture, and edit the final show.
