INTASC Principles

References

Competency 12.3 :  Use computers and other technologies effectively and appropriately to communicate information in a variety of formats on student learning to colleagues, parents, and others.

INTASC Principle 10 :  The teacher fosters relationships with school colleagues, parents, and agencies in the larger community to support students' learning and well being.

Context

This document was created in the fall of 2001 in the Technology in the Classroom class.
This document is a newsletter to parents introducing my classroom and me.  I incorporated classroom rules, first day tips, school supplies, volunteer opportunities, and topics that we will be learning.

Impact

This newsletter will be a good way to welcome parents and students to my classroom.  A key to good teaching is to have effective communication with parents.  A monthly or weekly newsletter is a great form of communication.  By sending an introductory letter, the parents and I will start the year off on a great start.

Alignment

The newsletter accomplishes Competency Goal 12.3 and  INTASC Principle 10 .  As a future NC public school teacher, I will need to write newsletters updating parents on what is going on in the classroom.  This newsletter is a good start to foster an effective relationship with future parents and students.
