Context
These documents were created in the fall of 2001 in the Technology in the Classroom class.
Document One is a week’s worth of lesson plans based upon the second grade math curricula of money and the integration of computers into that curriculum.  I used The Learning Company’s Reader Rabbit’s Math CD-ROM.  I accessed the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction’s Web Page to access the Competency Goals for Second Grade.  (http://www.dpi.state.nc.us/) I also used the Mailbox Magazine for activity ideas.

Document Two is an evaluation of the Reader Rabbit’s Math Software.

Impact
These lesson plans incorporate computer software into math curricula.  As a teacher, I will have to integrate all subject areas with one another along with computer software into the classroom.  It is important that I adhere to the NC Standard Course of Study into what I teach along with providing activities where students can facilitate learning on their own.  As I teach I need to be able to monitor learning through assessment whether informal or formal.  My students will benefit from the many different learning tools made available by use of computer software.

Alignment
These lesson plans accomplishes Competency Goals 10.4 , 11.1 , and 12.7 ,. and INTASC Principles 5 and 8 As a future NC public school teacher, I will need to incorporate computer software into my general classroom curricula.  This lesson plan will help me to facilitate that need.  It will also help me to create lessons, where students can learn on their own, in areas of their interest.  This document also allows for assessment in various forms allowing me to determine where the class needs to review.
