Reading for Developmental Spelling:
Bear, et al. (2008). Words Their Way: Chapter 1. [This chapter gives an overview of the stages of orthographic development for children.] Examples of children's invented spelling organized by stage of development.
Blog Post (after reading Words Their Way: Chapter 1 and viewing the PowerPoint presentation [summary of Chapter 1] and listening to the lectures about developmental word study.) Post a response to your blog and include the material below in the outline.
On your blog: outline the characteristics of each of the following stages of developmental spelling development:
- Emergent (Preliterate)
