Web sites For Students Whose Primary Language Is Not English

Competency 13.3:  Use media and technology to support learning for children whose primary language is not English.

Context

This artifact was created in my Foundations 3100 class, Classroom Use of Microcomputers. Using Internet Explorer I went to the web site, www.freetranslation.com. On this site, I translated some text from English to French, and also translated a web page, www.crayola.com, from English to French.  Then I went to the web page, www.englishlearner.com, "teacher resources," and printed out some material that I thought would be of use in my class.

Impact

I will have students in my class with English as a second language.  I need to know how to communicate with these students and their families.

Alignment

Web sites For Students Whose Primary Language Is Not English aligns with Competency 13.3 – as a future NC public school teacher; I now know ho to use technology to meet the needs of students with English as a second language.
