Artifact # 15 |
Cinderella Video Project Competency 10.2: "Use school television resources that support the curriculum." Competency 11.3: "Use technology based tools that are specific to the discipline." Context This artifact was created in the Media class of Elementary Education Block 436. In a group of five students, we created a video after working on a unit about Cinderella and the different literary version of Cinderella. Our group decided to do a music video using the basic version of Cinderella. First we scripted out each of the scenes onto index cards then we chose the different songs to accompany each shot. Then using I-movie edited and created a music video by mixing the audio and video feeds together. Impact As a licensed teacher in North Carolina, I should be able to use a variety of technology in my class. By using this video equipment and the editing program, I am able to carry these strategies into my classroom to help students create their own personal videos. Alignment This artifact aligns with Technology Competency 10.2 because I used a video camera and a video editing program to support the curriculum by creating a video based upon children's literature. The artifact aligns with Technology Competency 11.3 because I used technology based tools that support a specific discipline. I created a video that was based upon a literary unit, using a digital video camera to capture clips on tape to. The Cinderella Video Project meets INTASC principle 8. Students can demonstrate, by creating a video, what they have learned from reading a novel. In order to have a quality production, they will need to know how to utilize certain pieces of technology. By participating in this activity, students will be able to improve their social skills by working in cooperative groups. It is important that as a teacher, I ensure that my students are continually developing, and this activity is a great way to provide this development. This project will also check for student understanding, by seeing if a student can correctly complete the task, as well as understand the ideas which are being taught.
