Lesson Plans Integrating Technology Competency 10.4: Goals of the NC Computer Skills Curriculum Competency 11.1: Use technology in the discipline/subject for learning and as a medium for communications. Competency 12.7: Select and create learning experiences that are appropriate for curriculum goals, relevant to learner, based upon principles of effective teaching and learning, incorporate the use of media and technology for teaching where appropriate, and support learner expression in a variety of media using a variety of media communication tools. Context This artifact was created during my Foundations 3100 class, Classroom Use for Microcomputers. In a group of two, we picked software that we could use in our classroom called Reader Rabbit 1. We then made five days of lesson plans that integrated the software into a larger lesson. We chose to teach a lesson on learning the alphabet; we included some hands-on non-computer activities for each day and also included a detailed lesson plan for each day. We included a materials list, a list of questions to ask the students, and ways to integrate this throughout the curriculum. Impact As a teacher, I will be making lesson plans, now I know how to integrate software into a lesson. Alignment Lesson Plans Integrating Technology aligns with Competency 10.4 - I developed lesson plans that will correlate with NC curriculum and I integrated it with other subject areas. Competency 11.1- This piece of software was about the alphabet and how to put together letters to spell words. Competency 12.7- I am teaching computer skills and I am integrating it with hands-on activities and problem solving skills. This artifact meets INTASC principle 7 because as a teacher, I will plan my instruction based upon knowledge of the subject matter, the students, the community, and curriculum goals.
