Artifact 15
Gradebook Spreadsheet with 2 Charts

Context
This artifact is a gradebook spreadsheet with 2 charts.  I decided to make a spreadsheet that I could use to average grades.  I made my gradebook by using Microsoft Excel.  I typed the names of my students and then typed his/her grades under the categories of Test 1, Test 2, Test 3, Homework, and Project grades.  I then used the formula
=average(b4:d4) to come up with the test averages.  I wanted to find out my students final grade, so I used the formula =(e4*0.5)+(f4*0.2)+(g4*0.3).  Then I wanted to find out class averages so I used the formula  =average(b4:b13).  I printed out two charts.  The first chart illustrates one student's performance, while the other chart illustrates final grades.  I then copied part of my spreadsheet into a letter to the principal using Microsoft Word.

Impact
I am going to be certified to teach grades K-6.  I know I will need to keep many records on my students.  Microsoft Excel is one program I could use to help me keep track of many records.  I also know I will need to keep grades on my students and understanding how to construct an electronic gradebook will help me in my career.

Alignment
Artifact 15 aligns with competencies 11.3, 12.2, and 12.5.  It aligns with competency 11.3 because I constructed 2 technology based charts.  It aligns with competency 12.2 because I made an electronic gradebook, and 12.5 because I made a chart to  keep track of student progress using a chart.
