Artifact 10
List of Television Resources

Context
This artifact is a list of television resources to be used in the classroom.  In class, my professor showed a piece of Channel One.  I then went to the search engine http://www.google.com and typed in “television resources”.  This gave me a list of many sites available.  I chose to use Channel One, PBS, Discovery Channel, Animal Planet, and Noggin.  I explored these sites and then wrote a short summary of what each site was about.  I then typed this information to be included in my teaching portfolio.  After each resource title, I inserted the web site addresses as a footnote.  I did this by going to “Insert” and then “Footnote”.  This artifact meets competency goal 3 of the North Carolina Standard Course of Study for K-12 Technology Competency.  This competency states, “The learner will use a variety of technologies to access, analyze, interpret, synthesize, apply, and communicate information.”

Impact
As a future North Carolina teacher, I now know the importance of using television resources that support the curriculum.  Television is a great way to allow students to visually understand what the teacher is trying to teach, but I now realize the importance of making sure they correlate to the appropriate grade level.

Alignment
Artifact 10 aligns with competency 10.2 of the advanced technology competencies for educators. I now understand it is important to use school television resources that support the curriculum.

Alignment with INTASC Standards
This artifact meets INTASC Standard 5 because I will be able to access television resources as a means of creating a learning environment that will encourage positive social interaction, active engagement in learning, and self motivation.
