Artifact Nine: Monthly
Progress Report
A. This rationale is a monthly progress report that I can fill out at the end of each week for each student. At the end of the month, I can send this home to the parents, so that they know how well their children are doing in school. B. I created this document my senior year at Appalachian State University during my semester of Block classes. I made this artifact using Microsoft Word, by inserting a table into the document. I chose the different columns that I wanted to include, and I can go back and change them if I find that another category might be beneficial. C. I find this artifact very useful to teachers. Having some sort of progress report is a great way for teachers to communicate with the parents of their students. I will use some source of progress report when I am a teacher, and I think that this form is very easy to use. Since the format is electronic, I have the original saved onto a disk. I can bring up the original and fill eacch form out for each child, and save it under that child's name, keeping the original saved under another name. This way, when I go to do progress reports, I do not have to write all of the information... I can just bring up the file and type the information that I want to share with the parents. D. This rationale meets Technology Competency IV- A because it uses technology to create a way for teachers to communicate with parents an assessment of the progress of their child. Many different aspects of the child can be assessed using this electronic form. It also meets INTASC Principle Ten because it provides teachers with a way to open up communication between the parent and the teacher.
