Competency 11.3: "Use technology based tools that are specific to the discipline." Context During Block 436 I created a Modern Fashion and Invention Project that allowed me to use a digital camera to take pictures. In a group with my class members we chose an object out of a box and had to come up with a new invention for the object. Our object was a water depth tester, but with our creative minds we chose to make the new object a alien/date finder. We came up with a story to go along with the object. Our group went around campus and took digital photos with our detector. Afterwards we resized the pictures in Adobe Photoshop and used Netscape Composer to put our information on. I did four different pages with links to each one, there was an example page, master page, student page, and teacher page. The pages were then put onto the web. Impact As a future teacher in North Carolina, I now know how to create a web page for my students. I can use Netscape Composer to use help me create web pages for my future students' work. This will be helpful in publishing many different works that my future classes create. Alignment The artifact meets Competency goal 11.3 because I used technology based tools that support a specific discipline. As a group we used the digital camera along with the computer to create a variety of web pages. These tools were useful in helping create the Modern Fashtion and Invention webpage. The Modern Fashion and Invention Project meets INTASC principle
8 because students can show they understand how to create webpages based
on what they have learned from the class. Students will have to know
how to use the apporiate techonology so that the web pages, which meets
the crieteria of quality work. By being apart of a group to chose
an object and come up with a story line the students can improve
their social skills by working together successfully. It is important
as the teacher, I make sure that all my students are developing a wide
variety of skills socially. This project is also a good way to check
for student understanding, by monitoring the student's work on this particular
activity and check to make sure they learning the material being taught.
